The long awaited Samsung Galaxy A22 looks set to launch soon – 91 mobiles has leaked early renders and impressive specs. Previously the site had said it could cost around 200,000 KRW ($177/£125) meaning if its released here it could be the UK's cheapest 5G phone yet.
Leaked Specs
The leaked images show a 4G version and 5G version, which are said to have slightly different specs. The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is said to boast a 6.4-inch LCD, MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. Size wise it’s 9mm tick and weighs in at 205 grams. It reportedly has a rear triple-camera system, consisting of a 48-megapixel main/macro/depth sensor combination. If the pricing information is correct, this could be the king of budget 5G phones.
The 4G vs 5G Galaxy A22 models look largely identical - both get a waterdrop notch, but the bezels on the 4G variant look slimmer. The Samsung Galaxy A22 4G model looks set to have an OLED screen rather than LCD, be powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset ad have an additional rear camera with an LED flash below the module and the same 5,000mAh battery. It’s said to measure 8.5mm in thickness and weigh 185 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy A22 4G and Galaxy A22 5G both look set to come in four colour options – white, black, purple and green.
UK’s cheapest 5G phone
Assuming the leak is correct, the Galaxy A22 5G will join a plethora of budget 5G phones and beat the new £179 Realme 8 5G for UK’s cheapest 5G phone. We have to hope it comes to the UK and US however as it has been rumoured it might be only headed to India and parts of Asia at launch.
